Just because I KNOW you haven’t already been bombarded with enough advice/guidelines about this SWINE FLU to drive you onto a ledge, I am including this link sent to me by my friend BABETTE, who is a Psychiatric Clinical Specialist and Nurse Manager over at the VA in Los Angeles.  

 

It’s put out by the PTA, the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) so you know it’s gotta be good! And it’s all about talking to your kids calmly about Swine Flu so as not to panic or overwhelm them.  

 

I found it very helpful. For example, I learned it probably wasn’t a good idea for me to rush across the kitchen, rip that pretzel from Julia’s mouth and shriek,“Oh dear God! You forgot to Purell your hands first!” Also a bad idea, curling up in a fetal position under the dining room table whenever the news comes on – in front of your kid. Bad mommy.
