Friday, yeah! I love Fridays! It’s my excuse to have a cocktail. I NEVER have cocktails during the week. And usually not on the weekends either unless it’s a special occasion like a party or I’ve just gotten off the phone with my mother.  

So this week’s featured drink is a concoction I first had at dinner at my friend Patrice’s house. It was SUPER YUMMY and when she told me what was in it I GAGGED! Because you know why? One of the ingredients is FANTA! Yu-huh! You remember Fanta from when you were a kid, right? It’s that fruit-flavored, fizzy juice soda that’s kind of like orange Kool-Aid with bubbles. I never touched the stuff!  

But it just goes to show you, red wine can make anything palatable. Even SUPER YUMMY! And even fancy if you serve it in pretty glasses and add fruit slices. You could even serve this drink at a cocktail party for your husband’s boss. Or YOURS for that matter! And really, there’s no rule that says you have to tell people what’s in a drink. Well, unless there’s peanuts. I’m pretty sure there are laws about peanut disclosure. But as for Fanta, you’re in the clear!

PATRICE’S SANGRIA RECIPE

6 cups of cheap red wine (Livingston Cellars Burgundy is Patrice’s wine of choice)

6 cups of Fanta

Slice up oranges and limes and add to pitcher. Chill for 2 hours before serving. Makes a pitcher.

 

Now chill out yourself! HAPPY FRIDAY!

And remember…don’t feel guilty and drive.
